Who does it comprise of?
Each year members nominate and elect 2 council members from each State and territory as their representatives on the Council of AFRA.

What are their responsibilities?
They are responsible to the membership in general in ensuring the smooth, efficient and economical delivery of membership services to AFRA members. This includes the development of policies, philosophies, business ideas and strategic development plans.

With the President , they identify priority issues for the year that will achieve results for AFRA, identify what these results should be and work with the issue that they have been delegated and monitor its implementation by the AFRA administration.
Those priority issues until 2005 are:-

• Marketing / Brand Awareness § Standards and Auditing
• Training & Membership
• Member Benefits

They must be available to attend all Council Meetings and the Annual General meeting as a representative of their State and to assist in organising and running trade evenings and social events for sponsors and members in their States.

They are also regarded as representatives of AFRA and watch for local opportunities regarding potential new members, and media opportunities. It is essential that Council members are aware of any information that is delivered to members of the public concerning furniture removals, its accuracy and any feedback that results from the same.

They are not responsible for the day to day running of AFRA, or for making normal business decisions, but are there to oversee that the decisions that are made on their behalf fit into the priority issues that have been set by the full Council.
